Oliver Solberg of Sweden won the Chile rally Saturday, securing his third world championship victory. Driving a Toyota GR Yaris, Solberg led from the opening stage through the final stage, finishing 16.6 seconds ahead of teammate Sébastien Ogier of France.
Solberg completed the 16 timed stages in 2 hours, 57 minutes and 8.2 seconds. Adrien Fourmaux of France, driving a Hyundai i20, finished third, 33.3 seconds behind the winner.
Solberg, 24, is the son of Petter Solberg, who won the world championship in 2003. He navigated the rally with British co-driver Elliott Edmondson.
Elfyn Evans of Britain, a nine-time world champion and defending title holder, entered Sunday's final stage in second place, 19.1 seconds behind Solberg. Evans won the opening stage of the day and was second in the first BioBío stage, trailing Solberg by 1.3 seconds despite Solberg suffering a puncture on the rear right tire near the end of that section. The gap between them narrowed to 14.5 seconds after the first two Sunday stages.
The battle for second place shifted dramatically in the penultimate stage when Evans was forced to stop and change a wheel, losing more than two minutes and dropping from second to fifth place. Evans ultimately finished 2 minutes and 22.3 seconds behind Solberg.
Sami Pajari of Finland, also driving a Toyota, finished fourth, 1 minute and 33.9 seconds behind Solberg and 48.4 seconds ahead of Evans. Esapekka Lappi of Finland, driving a Hyundai, completed the top six, finishing 5 minutes and 7 seconds behind the winner.
In the championship standings, Evans holds a 17-point lead over Pajari, his Toyota teammate. Solberg won the bonus point for the fastest time in the final stage, with Evans second, Pajari third, Takamoto Katsuta fourth, and Ogier fifth.
With two races remaining in the season, Toyota has secured its 10th manufacturer title, equaling the record held by Lancia. The Chile rally was the 12th round of the 2026 world championship season.
