President Donald Trump will visit Long Island on Friday to tour law enforcement facilities in Nassau County, officials said.
The president will appear at the Nassau County Police Academy in Garden City alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who Trump has endorsed in the New York governor's race. According to Blakeman, Trump has indicated an interest in visiting to honor law enforcement personnel in the county.
The visit is expected to draw protesters and create traffic disruptions across Nassau County. Traffic troubles are likely to begin around 1 p.m., authorities said.
Street closures will affect the Garden City, Mineola, and Uniondale areas. Blakeman said specific details of the closures will not be disclosed for security reasons, as doing so would reveal the direction of the president's arrival.
