A fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia's Far East killed 15 workers, the plant's management confirmed Thursday. The fire broke out at the facility on Tuesday.
All those killed were employees at the complex, located in Russia's Amur region near the Chinese border. The plant's management said one Russian citizen and 14 foreigners were among the dead but did not provide further details about the nationalities of the foreign victims.
Video shared on social media showed crowds of workers fleeing for safety when the fire began. The plant's management previously announced on Wednesday that it had recovered the bodies of one Russian and six Chinese citizens.
Search and rescue operations have concluded, according to a statement from the company managing the facility posted on social media. The company said 39 people were injured in the incident. Some of the injured were evacuated by air to Moscow, according to video footage provided by the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry press service showing medical and rescue workers placing injured individuals on a plane in Blagoveschensk, the capital of Amur region.
The plant's management announced it would provide financial compensation to families of those killed and injured. The company also said it continues to monitor air quality in the area following the incident.
