Indonesian authorities have lost contact with a small boat carrying eight people, including five journalists, who were documenting an eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano.
The vessel departed Monday afternoon from a port in Banten province, approximately 120 kilometers west of Jakarta, according to the search and rescue service. The last communication from one of the journalists occurred Monday at midday, after which contact was lost.
The five missing journalists worked for local and international news outlets. The boat's other three passengers were not identified in available reports.
The Anak Krakatau eruption prompted the temporary suspension of operations at multiple airports across Indonesia. Flights at Jakarta's international airport have since resumed.
