Russian forces launched one of the largest attacks of the war overnight Tuesday against multiple Ukrainian cities, killing at least 21 people and wounding more than 100, according to local authorities.
The strikes targeted Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kamianske and other cities and regions across Ukraine. The State Emergency Service reported that six people were killed and 81 wounded in Kiev, while Dnipro recorded 15 deaths, including one rescue worker and four minors, with approximately 40 additional people injured.
In Kiev, rescue teams worked across all districts from overnight onward, responding to 29 locations. Most fires were extinguished, though work continued at six active points across five districts of the capital. Damage was recorded in several residential buildings.
Dnipro sustained significant casualties, with at least five deaths and 25 wounded reported, including a 13-year-old in serious condition. Kharkiv also suffered effects from the bombardment, with at least 10 wounded and significant damage across several urban districts.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia deployed 656 long-range drones and 73 missiles of various types in the attack. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 602 drones and 40 missiles. However, 33 drones and 33 missiles—30 of them ballistic—penetrated defenses and struck 38 separate locations across Ukraine. Fragments from destroyed drones fell in 15 additional locations.
The attacks involved drones and missiles that triggered fires in buildings and vehicles, requiring emergency services to respond throughout the night. The Russian Defense Ministry stated the attack targeted enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
