Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian city of Odesa on Wednesday, killing one man and damaging residential buildings, garages and vehicles across a populated district, according to Ukrainian officials.
Serhiy Lysak, head of Odesa's military administration, confirmed the fatality in a Telegram post on Wednesday. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the strike damaged three garages and two civilian vehicles, with blast waves shattering windows in nearby buildings.
The daytime strike triggered fires in garages within one district of the city. The destruction extended across approximately 100 square meters, with eight residential buildings damaged and multiple garages and vehicles completely destroyed, according to the Odesa.Ofitsialno Telegram channel.
Emergency responders established a command post at the scene. Municipal services deployed to assist residents, helping to cover window and door openings with plastic sheeting and OSB boards. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service were present to provide support to affected residents.
