Ukraine downs 667 targets in large-scale Russian missile and drone attack

Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 667 Russian aerial targets between 7:00 on April 15 and 7:00 on April 16, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

During this 24-hour period, Russian forces conducted two waves of combined attacks using ground-launched and air-launched missiles, as well as strike drones. Ukrainian radar units detected and tracked a total of 703 aerial targets.

The intercepted targets included 19 Kh-101 cruise missiles, eight Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, four Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 636 drones of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types. The remaining targets detected but not neutralized included one additional Kh-101 cruise missile, one Iskander-K cruise missile, and 23 drones.

The Russian attack involved 19 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, 20 Kh-101 cruise missiles, five Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 659 unmanned aerial vehicles. The missiles were launched from Russia's Rostov region, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Millerovo, as well as from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Shatalovo. Additional drones were launched from Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea, with approximately 200 of the drones identified as Shahed-type systems.

Ukrainian air defense assets repelled the assault through aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, hits by 20 strike unmanned aerial vehicles and 12 missiles were recorded at 26 locations across Ukraine. Falling debris from intercepted targets was documented at an additional 26 locations. Information regarding one additional Russian missile was being clarified as of the Air Force's report.
