Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Friday that he will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, to discuss efforts to end Russia's war on Ukraine.

Zelenskyy confirmed the meeting in a post on X, stating that former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov had reported on recent contacts with the American side. "We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level — with President Trump in the near future," Zelenskyy wrote. "A lot can be decided before the New Year," he added.

The meeting comes as negotiators work toward agreement on a peace plan. Zelenskyy said he and Trump "have a broad agenda" and that the meeting is "specifically designed to finalize as much as we can" of the agreement. When asked by reporters whether he expected to leave the meeting with a deal in place, Zelenskyy said negotiators would "finalize as much as we can," without committing to a final agreement.

On the agenda are territorial disputes, security guarantees for Ukraine, and economic matters. Zelenskyy confirmed he would raise the status of eastern Ukraine and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which has been under Russian control since early in the conflict. He noted that certain questions could only be discussed at the leadership level and that his team wanted to "finalize some details" of commitments made by the United States and agreements with European countries.

Earlier Friday, Zelenskyy held a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to coordinate positions ahead of the Florida meeting. "We had a very substantive and positive conversation. We coordinated our positions ahead of the meetings in Florida, and we must work at maximum productivity in the coming days," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. He added that Ukraine has "never been and will never be an obstacle to peace" and that his team would continue working to ensure necessary documents are prepared quickly.

Zelenskyy also stated that he shared details of recent conversations with Trump's envoys and key aspects of the negotiation process with Rutte. The two discussed joint efforts to guarantee security and develop coordinated European positions that would support Ukraine and Europe.

On Thursday, Zelenskyy met with U.S. special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. Following that conversation, Zelenskyy said his team "works without rest" to ensure the peace plan is "realistic and effective."

The diplomatic push follows weeks of intensive negotiations that began in November with the publication of a 28-point peace plan developed by the United States with participation from Russian authorities. Territory remains the most contentious issue in the negotiations, according to officials.
