Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh on Thursday announced the members of five task forces tasked with examining the institution's operations and policies. The groups will review areas including communications, the Fed's balance sheet, data, productivity, jobs, and the framework for how policymakers view inflation.

Warsh first disclosed his intention to create the task forces last month, stating they would tackle everything from inflation to artificial intelligence as part of his promised review of monetary policy.

Among the prominent figures named to lead the task forces are venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, former Bank of England Governor Mervin King, and Greg Mankiw, former chairman of the White House's Council of Economic Advisers. The task forces also include a wide range of academicians and former Federal Reserve officials.

The artificial intelligence task force includes Andreessen, economist Charles I. Jones, and Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. All three are bullish on the economic potential of artificial intelligence, aligning with Warsh's own views on the technology's transformative potential.

For the inflation frameworks task force, Greg Mankiw and Thomas Sargent, a Nobel laureate at New York University, will serve as co-leaders.

The task force examining the Fed's balance sheet, which has expanded significantly since the Great Recession in 2008-2009, will be co-led by Raghuram Rajan, a former leader of the Reserve Bank of India; Karen Dynan, a Harvard economist and former Treasury official; and Jeremy Stein, a former Fed governor.

Mervin King, the former Bank of England governor, will be among the leaders of the task force on communications.

Doug McMillon, former Walmart CEO, is also among those named to the task forces. Warsh characterized the group as comprising "the best minds" to bring outside thinking to the Federal Reserve.
