Real Madrid announced Monday that Dani Carvajal will depart the club at the end of the season. The 34-year-old captain's contract expires in late June, and the club and player have agreed not to extend it.

Carvajal's final match will be Saturday against Athletic Club at 21:00. His departure concludes 23 seasons with the club—10 in the youth academy and 13 in the first team. Over that span, he made more than 450 appearances and won 27 titles, including six Champions League trophies.

In a statement, Real Madrid said: "Real Madrid and our captain Carvajal have agreed to end a wonderful stage as a player of our club at the end of the present season. The Club wants to show him its gratitude and all its affection to one of the greatest legends of our club and world football."

The club announced it will hold a tribute to Carvajal before the supporters. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez said: "Carvajal has always represented the values of Real Madrid in an exemplary manner. This is and will always be his home."

Carvajal, from Leganés, joined Real Madrid's youth system at age 10. He became one of only five players in the club's history to win six European Cups, alongside Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Paco Gento, and Nacho Fernández. He also helped lay the first stone of the Valdebebas sports city alongside Alfredo Di Stéfano.

The club described Carvajal as "a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy."
