Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave Barcelona this summer at the end of his contract. The 37-year-old Polish striker announced his departure on Instagram on Saturday, stating that "the mission is complete" after four seasons with the Spanish club.

"After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on," Lewandowski said in his social media post. "I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships."

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and has scored 119 goals in 191 games across all competitions. During his tenure, he helped the club win three La Liga titles, including this season's trophy, and the Copa del Rey in 2025. He also won three Spanish Super Cups with the club.

The striker delivered an emotional speech to his teammates and backroom staff during a training session this week, expressing that it had been a pleasure to be part of the Barcelona squad. In his Instagram post, he thanked everyone who accompanied him during his time at the club and expressed particular gratitude to club president Joan Laporta for the opportunity to experience "the most incredible chapter of my career."

"I will never forget the affection I received from the fans from my first days," Lewandowski wrote. "Catalonia is my place on earth."

Lewandowski is set to play his final home game for Barcelona against Real Betis on Sunday. Head coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Saturday that the striker would start that match. His next destination remains unclear at this stage.

The forward has experienced a number of injuries over the past year and started only 15 league games in the 2025-26 season. He made a late appearance in last weekend's Clasico victory over Real Madrid, which confirmed Barcelona as champions. Earlier in May, his goal in a 2-1 win at Osasuna helped set up the club's title success.

Lewandowski will turn 38 in August. The Athletic reported in September 2025 that the expectation was for him to leave Barcelona at the end of this season.
