Bahrain's Ministry of Interior announced Monday that it had revoked the citizenship of 69 people, some of whom were related, after accusing them of sympathizing with Iran and colluding with foreign entities.

The decision followed arrests of dozens of individuals accused of posting material on social media that incited instability and posed a threat to public order in Bahrain. According to officials, those stripped of citizenship had been convicted of communicating with foreign organizations and glorifying Iranian attacks during the recent conflict.

The move comes after Tehran carried out strikes on facilities in Bahrain as part of the war launched against Iran by Israel and the United States. The 39-day conflict saw missile and drone attacks throughout the Persian Gulf region.

Bahraini authorities said the measures were taken in response to actions deemed harmful to national security. Officials stated that those targeted had engaged in activities linked to Iran, including the dissemination of material on social media.

In response to the conflict, Bahraini authorities have tightened control over online activity and warned against the dissemination or promotion of materials that could undermine stability. The citizenship revocations represent part of Bahrain's broader efforts to counter activities deemed supportive of Iran during the period of heightened regional tensions.
