American Airlines flight blows two tires landing at Chicago O'Hare

An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 blew out two tires while landing at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Monday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Flight 386, which departed from LaGuardia Airport in New York City, touched down safely around 2 p.m. local time despite the tire failure. Passengers exited via stairs and were transported to the terminal by bus, according to the FAA.

First responders, including fire trucks and police cars, met the aircraft as a precautionary measure in accordance with standard procedures. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew.

"American Airlines flight 386 experienced a tire issue after landing safely at Chicago," the airline said in a statement. "Per procedure, first responders met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution and customers were transported safely to the terminal by bus."

The aircraft has been taken out of service for inspection and maintenance. The FAA said it would investigate the incident.

The incident marked the second tire-related event at O'Hare within less than a week. On Thursday afternoon, a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Phoenix aborted its takeoff after blowing a tire. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
