FC Barcelona announced Monday that manager Hansi Flick has signed a contract renewal binding him to the club through June 30, 2028, with an optional additional year. The signing took place at the club's offices in a private ceremony attended by interim president Rafa Yuste, sporting director Deco, members of the Sports Commission, and president-elect Joan Laporta.

The new contract replaces Flick's previous agreement, which was set to expire in June 2027. The renewal comes after Barcelona secured the domestic double this season, winning both La Liga and the Supercopa de España. Before the contract signing, Flick, Yuste, and captain Ronald Araújo presented the La Liga and Supercopa trophies to the club museum in a symbolic closing of the season.

Flick had publicly indicated on May 12 that he would remain in his position. In a press conference before Barcelona's Champions League match against Newcastle in March, the 61-year-old German manager stated this would be his final job in professional football.

In two seasons at Barcelona, Flick has compiled a record of 88 wins, 18 losses, and 10 draws across 116 matches. His tenure has yielded five titles: two La Liga championships, two Supercopa de España trophies, and one Copa del Rey.

Flick's coaching staff will remain unchanged. His support team includes assistants Marcus Sorg, Toni Tapalovic, and Heiko Westermann, who have been with him since his arrival at the club. Goalkeeper coach José Ramón de la Fuente will also continue. Thiago Alcântara, a former Barcelona player, will remain as the liaison between the players and the coaching staff.

Barcelona's statement emphasized that the renewal ensures continuity of both the manager and the club's sporting project. The club noted that Flick restored hope to Barcelona supporters in his first season and confirmed that optimism with competitive results in his second, building a team aligned with the club's identity while dominating the domestic competition and positioning the club to reclaim its place among Europe's elite.
