Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the Israeli Defense Force struck a building in Gaza City on Tuesday night targeting Muhammad Odeh, the newly appointed leader of Hamas' military wing.

According to Israeli sources cited by news outlets, Odeh was one of the architects of the October 7 attack. He had been appointed to lead Hamas' military wing following the death of his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, who was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza City approximately 10 days earlier.

The strike was carried out by two fighter jets. A security official said Israeli officials believe Odeh did not survive the attack, though neither the IDF nor Hamas has issued an official statement confirming his death or condition.

In their joint statement, Netanyahu and Katz said Odeh served as head of Hamas' intelligence headquarters during the October 7 attack. "Odeh was responsible for the murder, abduction and wounding of many Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers," the statement read.

The two officials added: "We will continue to pursue everyone who took part in the Oct. 7 massacre. Sooner or later, Israel will reach them all."

Medical sources in Gaza reported that at least two people were killed and more than ten were wounded in the strike and another attack that occurred in the strip on the same night. The IDF did not provide details on the specific location of the strike or casualty figures.

Odeh's appointment to lead the military wing came after Netanyahu and Katz had previously released his photograph as part of their public statements regarding the operation.
