Jannik Sinner defeated Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday at the Italian Open in Rome, breaking Novak Djokovic's record for consecutive wins at ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

The victory marked Sinner's 32nd consecutive win at the Masters 1000 level, surpassing Djokovic's previous record of 31 consecutive wins, which had stood since 2011. Sinner, the world No. 1, has been undefeated at this level since his retirement against Tallon Griekspoor at last October's Shanghai Masters.

The match lasted 38 minutes for the opening set, with Sinner dominating from the start. He won 69 percent of points on his first serve and recorded two aces in the first set. His performance from the baseline was also strong throughout the match. The second set proved more competitive, though Sinner maintained control to close out the victory.

Sinner's win extended his overall winning streak across all competitions to 27 matches. The Italian has won five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 tournaments during his current streak. Should he win the Italian Open title on Sunday, he will have captured all nine Masters 1000 events in the category at age 24. Djokovic remains the only man to have achieved that feat, accomplishing it at age 31.

The quarterfinal victory advances Sinner to the semifinals at the Foro Italico for the second consecutive year. He will face either Daniil Medvedev or Landaluce in the semifinal round. The match was attended by notable spectators including Paolo Maldini.

Rublev, ranked world No. 14, was unable to match Sinner's pace and consistency throughout the encounter. The Italian maintained an unsustainable rhythm for his opponent, particularly evident in the opening set where Sinner's service dominance proved decisive.

Italy remains in contention for an all-Italian final at the Internazionali di Roma, following Luciano Darderi's victory over Jodar in an earlier round.
