The New York Mets defeated the New York Yankees 6-3 Saturday night, evening their weekend Subway Series at one game apiece.

Luke Weaver entered in the seventh inning to face a bases-loaded situation with no outs against his former team for the first time since leaving the Yankees in December. Weaver escaped the jam without allowing a run.

Mark Vientos drove in three runs for the Mets, while Juan Soto recorded two hits and two walks for New York. The Mets won for the fourth time in their last five games.

The Mets built their lead through early offensive production. In the third inning, Carlos Rodón's two-run wild pitch and throwing error allowed the Mets to take an early advantage. Vientos extended the lead in the fifth with a two-run double off Brent Headrick, giving New York a 5-2 lead.

The Yankees mounted a comeback attempt in the seventh. Cody Bellinger hit a drifting fly ball that Mets rookie right fielder Carsen Benge dropped for an error, allowing Aaron Judge to score from second base. Paul Goldschmidt was hit by a pitch, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. reached base on a bunt single that landed behind the pitcher's mound, loading the bases. However, Weaver prevented further damage.

Trent Grisham had an RBI single for the Yankees in the second inning. Brett Baty added an RBI double for New York in the fourth.
