Gotham FC battled to a 1-1 draw against visiting Boston Legacy FC on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, in front of one of the largest crowds in club history.

Jaedyn Shaw opened the scoring in the 37th minute off a rebound from a parried shot by Esther González. The 21-year-old midfielder scored her 20th career NWSL regular season goal, becoming the second-youngest player in league history to reach that milestone behind Olivia Moultrie. Shaw recorded a goal or assist in her third consecutive match.

Boston Legacy equalized just three minutes later when Alba Caño redirected a cross from Barbara Olivieri in the 40th minute.

The announced attendance of 11,308 was the fourth-largest regular-season figure in Gotham FC history. U.S. Women's National Team head coach Emma Hayes and New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani were among those in attendance.

Gotham FC dominated possession and created numerous chances in the second half. The team recorded 2.05 expected goals compared to Boston's 0.88, with a 17-6 advantage on attempted shots and 34 touches in the opposition box to Boston's eight. In the 88th minute, Jaelin Howell's low shot required an excellent save from Boston goalkeeper Casey Murphy, who pushed the effort onto the post. Katie Lampson's rebound attempt was blocked away.

Head coach Juan Carlos Amorós acknowledged the team's frustration at not converting its attacking pressure into a winning goal. "I know how this league is – you need to compete and win every day," Amorós said. "The team has been fantastic the last few games and today as well. We couldn't find the final piece, but it's important to see the determination and heart of the team. The last 25 to 30 minutes, we put them under a lot of pressure."

With the draw, Gotham FC improved to 4-2-3 with 15 points and held fifth place in the NWSL standings. The team maintained its status as the league's top defense with just five goals conceded in nine matches. Gotham's shutout streak ended at 340 minutes, the second-longest in club history and the longest since 2013.

Defender Tierna Davidson played the full 90 minutes for the first time since March 23, 2025. Forward Esther González made her 50th career NWSL regular season start, all with Gotham FC. Midfielder Jaelin Howell recorded six interceptions and won four of her six tackles. Defender Emily Sonnett made just the fourth substitute appearance of her 173-game NWSL career, playing 25 minutes.

Boston Legacy, which lost their first five games, remained unbeaten in their last three matches with the draw. The result came against the defending NWSL champions, whom Boston had previously lost to 1-0 on March 14.

Gotham FC will travel to the West Coast to face Seattle Reign FC on May 15, with kickoff set for 10 p.m. ET on Victory+.
