Brighton & Hove Albion announced Tuesday plans to build Europe's first stadium designed exclusively for women's football, positioning the English Premier League club at the forefront of infrastructure development for the sport.

The stadium will be located at Bennett's Field, adjacent to the club's current home, the American Express Stadium. A pedestrian bridge will connect the new venue to the main arena, enabling operational integration between the two facilities.

The club acquired the Bennett's Field site strategically in 2025. The new stadium has been designed with a minimum capacity of 10,000 spectators and will feature facilities tailored specifically to women's football, including customized changing rooms and recovery areas for female athletes.

According to Sky Sports, the venue will be guided by the philosophy "Built for Her," with design centered on the needs of female athletes and the specific culture of women's football, rather than adapting a facility historically designed for male athletes.

The club previously targeted an opening date for the start of the 2027/28 season but has revised the timeline. The new stadium is now scheduled to open by the end of the 2030/31 season.

If completed as planned, the stadium will be only the third of its kind globally designed exclusively for women's football, and the first in Europe and the United Kingdom.
