Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina won the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome on Saturday, defeating American Coco Gauff in the final after nearly three hours of play.
Svitolina, ranked No. 10 on the WTA tour, defeated Gauff, ranked No. 4, with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2. The victory marks Svitolina's third title at the Rome Masters 1000 tournament, following previous wins in 2017 and 2018.
The tournament, held on clay courts, carries a prize pool exceeding €8.235 million. Svitolina received €1,055,285 in prize money and 1,000 ranking points for the victory. This is her 20th WTA title overall.
Svitolina has competed in Rome 12 times. In the previous season, she reached the quarterfinals of the tournament before this year's championship run.
