Jannik Sinner, the world's top-ranked tennis player, was eliminated from the Roland Garros in the second round on Wednesday after a sudden physical collapse attributed to extreme heat conditions in Paris.

Sinner was leading Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, ranked 56th, by two sets and 5-2 in the third set when he began experiencing severe physical distress. While serving at 5-2, Sinner lost the game at love, then called for medical assistance. He told the attending medical staff, "I don't feel well, I need to vomit," and left the court for the locker room.

Upon returning to the court, Sinner's condition had not improved. He conceded five consecutive games to Cerundolo, who won the third set 7-5. The Italian player took a toilet break during the fourth set in an attempt to recover, but remained visibly weakened. Cerundolo dominated the fourth set, winning 6-1, and broke Sinner's serve at the start of the fifth set. At 1-5 down in the final set, Sinner was unable to continue competing at his previous level.

Cerundolo secured the victory 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 1-6, 6-1 after more than three hours and thirty minutes of play. The match concluded with Sinner still on court despite evident physical difficulties.

Paris has experienced record-breaking temperatures in recent days, with highs exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat was identified as a significant factor in Sinner's collapse during the match.

The elimination marks an unexpected exit for Sinner, who had won the opening two sets in dominant fashion in just over an hour. The Roland Garros was the only Grand Slam tournament Sinner had not yet won.

Elsewhere at the tournament, Italian player Flavio Cobolli advanced to the third round, defeating Chinese player Yibing Wu 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Cobolli, ranked 14th in the ATP standings, faced Wu, who is ranked 92nd.
