Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin accused Ukraine of intentionally attacking a bus carrying a Belarusian youth football team on June 17, saying the strike represented a shift from verbal threats to direct action against Belarus.
Galuzin made the statement in an interview with RTVI, describing the incident as an attack on "an absolutely peaceful object" transporting children to sports competitions. He said the bus was struck while traveling in Russia's Bryansk Region with the help of an airplane.
"By intentionally killing civilians, by intentionally attacking an absolutely peaceful object - a bus that was transporting children to participate in sports competitions - the Kiev regime has shown that it has, so to speak, switched from verbal threats against Belarus, which its leader Zelensky has voiced recently, to practical actions," Galuzin said.
He called for the actions to be condemned and opposed, characterizing them as "barbaric."
The incident occurred on June 17 and involved a Ukrainian drone attack, according to Russian accounts of the event.
