A 15-year-old boy was shot on a Manhattan-bound A train in Queens just after 6 p.m. Monday as the train approached the 80th Street station in Ozone Park, according to the NYPD.

The gunfire erupted during the evening commute, sending passengers scrambling for safety. Commuters ducked to the floor of the train as shots were fired. An eyewitness on the train, Junior White, said the scene descended into chaos. "It was pandemonium, everybody just took off running, man. Including the two guys, the teenagers that were fighting," White said. He was two subway cars away when he heard the shots. "We all jumped onto the floor and stayed below, and the doorman opened the doors up and some people ran out, but I stayed below," he said.

Responding officers found the boy with a gunshot wound to his torso and rendered aid at the scene. He was transported by police vehicle to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Officials said he is expected to recover.

Two other teenagers were taken into custody and are being questioned as persons of interest, but no charges have been filed as of Tuesday, police said. The NYPD also released a photograph of an individual they believe may be connected to the shooting and asked the public for help identifying the person.

According to sources, the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between teenagers. The 15-year-old victim was also shot in February by another teenager believed to have been involved in Monday's altercation, police said. That teenager was arrested in February, but charges were dropped after the victim refused to testify against him.

Sources said the Monday shooting was an act of revenge from a prior altercation between the individuals involved.
