Gotham FC announced Wednesday plans to construct the club's first dedicated training facility, marking a significant milestone after two decades of borrowing or sharing fields across New Jersey and New York.

The National Women's Soccer League club will move into the former New York Red Bulls training facility in Whippany, New Jersey, and transform the site into a 27,000-square-foot purpose-built center. Construction is slated to begin late this summer and conclude in summer 2027.

The facility will feature three grass playing surfaces, including one heated field. The club also intends to build a fourth full-size indoor field for year-round play, pending permit approval. The center will include a 3,000-square-foot gym, a hydrotherapy room, and dedicated player recovery spaces, with design informed by frequent input from players.

"This is absolutely huge for us," a club representative said, according to reporting on the announcement. Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, governor of Gotham FC, stated: "We are building Gotham FC with the ambition to become one of the defining clubs in women's soccer and a global brand in sport. Creating our first dedicated training facility is a major milestone in that journey because it gives our players and staff something every great club needs: a true home."

The facility is considered as an important commitment to remain in New Jersey, following earlier reports that the club had considered relocating to Queens beginning in 2028. The project prioritizes high performance, recovery, and athlete well-being, with the center designed as a purpose-built environment centered on those objectives.

The announcement comes as Gotham FC, the 2025 NWSL Champions, continues its championship-era growth and long-term investment in elite performance and player development.
